Dear All,

The pre-trip training is coming, can’t wait to see you all again.  We don’t have excellent speaker to hold the training, but we’ll learn more if we try hard to study about justice, compassion and the situation of Philippines.  In the coming training session, we are going to discuss the following questions; you can prepare them by reading those suggested readings or collecting information by various means.  Don’t worry about your preparation, try your best is good enough.  See you all at 7:30pm, 1 July @ Room 301, Jordon Breakthrough Centre.

營前培訓快到了，期待與你們再次相聚。在培訓中，我們沒有重量級的講員，希望藉著一起學習的心志及彼此豐富的討論，我們可以對公義、憐憫及菲律賓的情況有進一步的了解。　以下是1/7我們會討論的題目，並建議讀物，亦鼓勵你從不同途徑尋找資料。不過，你不需要有壓力，盡力而為就可以啦！1/7 晚上7:30 於佐敦突破中心301室見啦！

Assignment 1 : Questions for discussion 討論題目

1.      What happened in the past few decades in the Philippines which turned a once prosperous society into one which is considered to be among the poorest countries in South East Asia nowadays (suggest to justify your answers with various facets like: institutional, government policy, macro-economic, historical, cultural, anthropology, etc..)? 

 幾十年前，菲律賓，曾經是東亞僅次於日本的強國；曾經是亞洲的民主櫥窗。當時台灣人想到菲律賓賺美金，台灣電視明星都想嫁到菲律賓。至今，菲律賓卻無力發展自主性工業，至少三十％人口生活在貧窮線之下，每日生活花費不到一美元。菲律賓究竟經歷什麼事情，導致今日的情況呢? (你可以從不同的方向思考，例如：政治，經濟，歷史，文化，人文等)

2.      What kinds of impacts it has on its people due to this economical downfall (areas of impacts can include but not limit to sociological, psychological, practical, work life, family life, etc...)?

當經濟滑落後，對人民有何影響呢？（試從社會變化、心理狀況、人民的工作、家庭生活等等各方面加以探討）

3.      Find out some policies/ measures of the Hong Kong or/and the Philippines Government towards Filipino domestic helpers who work in HK, please comment those measures.

請探討一下香港及菲律賓政府對來港工作的菲律賓家庭傭工，實施了什麼政策 ，試加以評價。
